Rogelio Gamboa Talavera

Obituary

Rogelio was born in Cahuilla, Mx. to Refugio and Julia. He was fourth of 10 children. At age 21 he came to Shafter and worked in agriculture. In 1967 he met Mary Lou Rios and helped raise her 6 children Elizabeth, David, Jesse, George, Theresa and Charlotte. Soon after they had 4 sons Roger, Frank, Michael and Greg and shared 34 years of marriage.
Fulfilling his dream he started Gamboa and Son F.L.C. and later Gamboa Nursery planting and harvesting roses to be sold all over California. He was a hard worker and taught many the art of rose growing.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Manuel, Samuel, Gilberto, and wife Mary Lou. He is survived by his five sons, seven stepchildren, brother Ralph, sisters Rosa, Graciela, Tita, Irma and Mary. 24 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A mass of Christian burial, will be held at St. Francis Church 900 H. St. 8:30 am Rosary 9am Mass followed by a burial at Shafter Cemetery.
