Obituary

Rick Sharp, 56, of Shafter, passed away on Monday November 15, 2010. He was born on August 25, 1954 in Bakersfield, California to, Dorothy (Orrick) and John Sharp. Rick married Rebecca “Becky” Mootry on January 8, 1973 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He worked 18 years as a serviceman for Brown and Bryant and 19 ½ years as a field superintendant for the City of Shafter. The employees at the city office were his second family, and he often talked about how much he enjoyed his work family. Rick was a jack of all trades, and enjoyed working with his hands, especially working on old cars. He was an avid card player, and would play any card game, but his favorite was poker; he also enjoyed watching and playing basketball. Rick loved spending time with his boys and his granddaughters, attending many of their sports events; his family was his life. Rick was known for being honest, caring, a hard worker and a great husband.
Rick is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Johnny Creamer; and niece Becky Sharp. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Becky Sharp; sons Ricky Sharp, and Mark and wife Gabby Sharp; brothers, Jim and wife Parvin Creamer, Bob and wife Suzanne Sharp, Danny and wife Sylvia Sharp, and Roger and wife Traci Sharp; sisters, Janet and husband Duane Johnson, Sharon and husband Tom Powell, and Joy and husband Fred Morris; granddaughters Rosemarie, Lylli, Kiyanna and Natalie Sharp; numerous favorite nieces and nephews; and good friends, the Billy Shelton family, Margaret and Everett Williams, and lunch buddy, Shirley Farmer.
A graveside service will be held Saturday November 20, 2010 at Shafter Memorial Park beginning at 10:00a.m., followed by a memorial service at Shafter High School in the new gym, beginning at 11:00a.m. Pastor Mike Polley will officiate the services.
