Obituary for Ramiro Saldivar-Campuzano

Ramiro Salivar-Campuzano was born May 23, 1951 in Tepetzingo, Morelos, Mexico to Eva (Campuzano) and Pioquinto Saldivar. Ramiro came to the United States at the age of 16, looking for opportunities and worked in agriculture, including cotton, garlic, orange, grapes, olives and roses. Ramiro was a hard worker and was promoted to Foreman. He eventually began his own business, a nursery, Morelos Nursery and distributed plants all over Kern County and all the way down to Los Angeles.
Ramiro… liked to joke with people and tease them. In his social circles he was known by several nicknames, El Patas, El Paton and El Piruchas. He was a Good Samaritan always helping people, especially those coming from Mexico. He would find them work and a place to live. He exemplified the ideology of “paying it forward”. It comes as no surprise that Ramiro had an endless amount of friends and made friends everywhere he went; but always made time for his family. He would take them out on memorable vacations; to his home town in Morelos every two years, the Sequoia River during the summer and 2 special trips to Acapulco, Mexico. He was known for throwing large parties in his hometown. Ramiro raised his children with love but was very strict. He emphasized their learning both Spanish and English. He taught his wife and children to drive a standard stick shift in his own special way, putting them on his lap to turn the steering wheel or correcting any driving error with a quick rap on your head. His children were made to work in the fields every summer and he taught them the value of earning money. Ramiro, in his own special way, left many intangible gifts to every life he touched: a strong work ethic, to face adversity head on, and the powerful impact of a kind and humorous demeanor. Because of these “gifts”, his children turned out to be great, hardworking people.
Ramiro was always a romantic, requesting the special song “Anillo Grabado” dedicated to his wife of 40 years, Emma. He is survived by his wife, Emma; sons, Raul Saldivar, Ramiro Saldivar, Jr. and David Saldivar; daughters, Columba Jaro, Diana Saldivar, Monica Saldivar, Bricia Saldivar and Yesenia Saldivar; and 19 grandchildren.
