Obituary

Margaret Goertzen was born on April 4, 1927, in Shafter, CA, and passed away at the age of 89, on September 23, 2016, in Fresno, CA. After High School graduation in 1945, she was busy working at various jobs, but soon thereafter, began her banking career with Bank of America in Shafter, CA, to continue a few more years as Operations Officer, but retired from banking after 21 years, and was employed by Fresno Unified School District for another 20 years in the Payroll and Food Services Office. Margaret enjoyed traveling and was able to visit most of the United States and Canada, and also did a number of Cruises and tours in many countres. Family was important to her, and she kept in touch with them. She loved her church and contacts and kept busy in her younger years at Bethany Mennonite Brethren Church in Fresno. Her last six and a half years were spent at Willow Creek Health Care Facility. Thank you for your care. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Peter and Elizabeth Goertzen; brothers, Pete and Adolph; and sisters, Ann, Katherine, and Elizabeth. She is survived by her four nieces; and four nephews, and their families. Visitation will be held at Boice Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Memorial Service at 2:00 p.m. Remembrances may be made to the Bethany Mennonite Brethren Church 9161 N.
