Obituary for Carolyn Sue Poulton

Carolyn Sue Poulton (Burch), 76, of Bakersfield, CA was called to Heaven on the morning of October 16, 2017 after a short battle with Lymphoma. Born February 4, 1941 in Bakersfield, California, to William and Frances Burch. Carolyn was retired from the Kern County Department of Human Services where she worked for over 20 years. Carolyn was married to Carl Poulton, her camping buddy for 60 years. Together they had three children; Lannie Poulton and wife Sheri of Bakersfield, Mindy Poulton and… husband Bill Adam of Bakersfield. She was preceded in death by her daughter Robin Poulton. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren Lannie Poulton Jr, Torie Poulton, Skylar Poulton, Shane LaMar, and Nick Adam and her great grandchildren Jayden, Reid, Colby, and Berklee. Carolyn loved shopping, creating ceramic figurines, making life like dolls, playing bunco with her friends, spending time with her family and friends, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she adored. Carolyn had a very generous heart, she didn’t know a stranger, was always willing and able to help others – no questions asked. She shared a very special bond with her twin sister (Kathy) with whom she made a trip to Twinsburg, OH in 2001 to celebrate their 60th birthdays. She also shared a very special bond with Mindy and made many special mother/daughter trips with her to the Central Coast, Cabo, Alaska, and countless shopping trips. Carolyn was one of seven siblings. She is preceded in death by her brother Robert (Bobby) Burch and sisters Darlene and Bonita Burch, whom died in infancy. She is survived by her brother William Burch(Jean), sister-in-law Minnie Burch and sisters Katheryn Cheatwood (John) and Judy Barnhill (Robert). Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 22, 2017, Peters Funeral Home - 844 E Lerdo Hwy, Shafter, CA at 1:00 p.m. Graveside services will follow at the Shafter Cemetery - 18662 Santa Fe Way, Shafter, CA at 2:00 p.m. Her favorite color was pink and in her memory, we would love for you to wear something pink in celebration of her life.
