Obituary for Claudia S. Plaza

Claudia Sanchez Plaza was born in Zaragosa, Coahuila, Mexico on June 6, 1916 to parents, Arnulfo and Clarita Sanchez. Her family lived in city right on the border named Acuna, and Claudia attended school there all the way through her college years. She began her career as a school teacher and shortly after she was married to the love of her life, Jesus Plaza in 1936 in Acuna. The couple moved to Del Rio, Texas in 1942 and then on to Bakersfield, California in 1944. Claudia also worked as farm… laborer once here in California, but so much of her time was spent making tortillas and caring for the large family that she and Jesus were blessed with. She loved to travel and see the sights, but her heart was always with her family, who she cared for deeply.

Claudia was preceded in death by her husband, Jesus; her son, Jesus Jr.; and her brother, Raul Sanchez. She is survived by her children, Rosa Renteria, Arnulfo Plaza, Tony Plaza, Fernando Plaza, Arthur Plaza, Leticia Bustos, Daniel Plaza and Rudolfo Plaza; along with her brother, Fidel Sanchez; and far too many grandchildren to mention. She will be dearly missed.
