Obituary for Norman Leslie Spicer

Norman Leslie Spicer was born September 13, 1937 in North Tonawanda, New York to Norman Leslie Spicer Sr, and Shluia (Kohn) Spicer. He was raised in Yuma, Arizona leaving upon Graduation from High School to join the Air Force in 1955. His first career field was mechanic with Helicopter Rescue, Later Cross-Training to Welder. During his military career, he was stationed at Great Fall Montano, Oaho Hawaii, El Centro CA, Thailand, Tucson AZ, Vietnam, Austin TX, Rantoul IL, Colorado Springs, CO,… and Doluth MN. He made friends where ever he went and made the best of any situation he found himself in. In 1962 he married his long-time bride of 52 years Wanda Spicer. A year later he became the proud father of Lesli Anne Spicer. Norman returned to Shafter to live near his wifes family. He soon began a new career with Shell Oil Company as a field operator. Some may remember him as the local Santa or the guy in the parades driving his 1929 model a convertible or just the guy in the motorized chair riding around town making sure to stop and talk too everyone on his way.
Norman is survived by his daughter Lesli and son-in-law Jim Roden, his 4 grandsons; Timothy Roden, Derek Mathew, Scottie Mathews, and David Roden and his great-grandsons; Elijah Layton, Deven Mathews, and another Mathews Baby Enroote.
Norma had a wonderful life, he loved his little town and all of his little town and all of his friends dearly. His daughter would like to thank all of the steady stream of friends who came out to visit him in his last days, it meant the world to him.
