Shirley Ann Gomez 26418307

It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Shirley A. Gomez of Shafter, CA on Saturday, November 19th 2022. Shirley passed peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family, holding her husband’s hand, shared loving words, and a farewell kiss. Shirley was born in Oklahoma on September 2nd in 1940 and moved to Maricopa, CA where she grew up and graduated from Maricopa High School. Shirley retired from Pacific Bell after 30 years of service. She began her career as a switchboard operator, then a repair clerk where she later met the love of her life Lou Gomez. It was always Shirley’s dream to pursue a higher education. She was able to achieve this by taking night courses from the community college after working hours at Pacific Bell. Shirley spent her early retirement years giving back to the community by participating in various United Way events, donating her time to the Shafter Senior Center, served on the Board of Directors of the Kern Bridges Youth Foundation, and always made time for a Dodger game. Shirley was preceded in death by her daughter Kari, her parents Roy and Pearl, her brother Roy Jr., and her sister Laura. She leaves behind her husband of 41 years Lou Gomez, her sisters Dorothy and Francis, and daughters, Michelle Nelson, Lisa Gomez-Wilson and Elizabeth Martinez, as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren that love her very much. We love you and miss you, Nana. Go Dodgers! Visitation will be Friday, November 25, 2022 from 4:00-8:00pm with recitation of the rosary at 6:00pm at Peters Funeral Home, 844 E. Lerdo Hwy., Shafter CA and graveside services will be Saturday, November 26, 2022 at Shafter Cemetery, 18662 Santa Fe Way, Shafter CA.
