Obituary

Richard passed on December 4, 2021 after a 3 month battle with Covid-19. He was 56 years old at the time of his passing, hand in hand with his wife and daughter and listening to the sound of his son’s voice. He never lost faith that God was in control of his situation.
He was raised by Betty Pingree and Robert Capaldi, and was blessed to have his stepmother Opal Capaldi in his adult life. He married Linda Diane Capaldi and her three sons Timothy (12), Jason (10), and Brian (8) at the age of 21 years old. Against the odds, they had a wonderful and fulfilling marriage for 34 years and raised two more children together, Richie and Rochelle, in an incredibly loving home. He spent most of his adult life working on a drilling rig and transitioned to become a licensed general contractor and a commercial driver for the past 6 years.
Richard was a truly selfless man who found joy and satisfaction in being someone that others could count on, especially his wife, children, and those closest to him. There was nothing he could not fix, and no problem he could not work through. When your car wouldn’t start, you called Richard. When you just couldn’t figure it out, you called Richard. When you were down on your luck and needed a helping hand, you called Richard. There was no personal sacrifice too great when it came to his friends and family, and he proved that time and time again.
He dedicated his life to being a loving husband, caring father, and truly wonderful Papa. He set a Godly example for his sons on how to treat a wife, and when his grandkids came along, his entire world changed for the better. He found an additional supply of hugs, kisses, and I love you’s after his grandchildren were born. Every moment spent together became a photo opportunity, and he spent every waking second trying to find new ways to show them how much he loved them.
He is survived by his wife Diane Capaldi, mother Betty Pingree and stepmother Opal Capaldi; siblings Ron Capaldi and wife Kelly, Robert Capaldi and wife Jen, and Lurlia Capaldi; nephews Jeffrey, Robert, and Rodney Young; and cousins Treva Foster, Glenda Bryant, Betty Lou Norval, Shelia Boyt, as well as many others. He also leaves behind his children Timothy and wife Amber, Brian, Richie and wife Sara, Rochelle and husband Gavin; daughters-in-law Laura and Juanita, and great nephews Matthew and Aaron. His grandchildren Dylan, Jason, Railynn, Kenzie, Sawyer, Bowen, Bennett, Rose and Preston will always remember how special Papa was and carry on the legacy that he leaves behind. He is joined in Heaven by his father Robert Capaldi and son Jason Leonard.
