Manuel Rodriguez,60, beloved son, and brother, went home to be with the Lord on July5, 2023.He was born in Wasco, California to Lupe Garcia Rodriguez and Henry Escalante Rodriguez, on January 20,1963.

Manuel is survived by his father, Henry Escalante Rodriguez, brother, Jacinto Henry Rodriguez, brother, Tim Rodriguez, and sister, Monica Lisa Rodriguez. He was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel John Rodriguez and mother, Lupe Garcia Rodriguez.

Manuel grew up in a Christian household, was baptized and became a member of the Church of Christ, as a teenager. His love for God could be seen in his actions and how he lived his life.

Manny attended Shafter High School from 1977-1981, where he enjoyed hanging out with friends, and playing football, baseball, tennis, racquetball, and chess. Brother graduated from Shafter High in 1981.

After high School Manny attended Center of Employment Training, where his cousin, Bobby Rojas taught. Upon completing his training in electronics, Manny gained employment with Control Data as a quality control tester of micro processor boards, for computers they sold in the 1980’s. Their computers were developed under CDC and were some of the fastest in the world at the time.

After Control Data, Manuel worked at Sperry Rand Corporation who produced semi-conductors for a year or two, prior to returning home.

Upon returning home Manuel attended Cuesta College and BC, prior to working as a guard for the Juvenile Detention facility in Bakersfield, Ca. He worked there for several years before deciding he wanted to train to be a correctional officer.

According to Heather Shirley, Warden at the Wasco State Prison-Reception Center,” Manuel began his career with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) as a Correctional officer Cadet at the Richard A. McGee Correctional Academy in Galt, CA on July 16,1994. Upon completion of the Academy Manuel reported to Centinela State Prison on August 29,1994 as a correctional Officer. On June 3,1996, Manuel transferred to Salinas Valley State Prison where he remained until November 30, 1999.Following a brief break in service, Manuel reported to WSP-RC as an Office Technician on October 10,2000, where he remained until his retirement from state service on October 30,2021. Manuel served as the SEIU Chapter President for many years and worked full time for SEIU after retiring from state service.”

Manny was loved fiercely by his parents and family and will be deeply missed by all who knew him throughout the years.
