Obituary

On Sunday, January 10, 2021, Eusebio T. Barron, loving husband, father of three, and grandfather to one, passed away at the age of 71 from complications due to COVID-19 in Bakersfield, CA. Eusebio, also known as “El Barbón” or “El Bellón,” was born on August 14, 1949, in San Juan, Guanajuato, Mexico to Jesus and Luz (Torres) Barron. A proud immigrant, he came to the United States in 1971 to help lift his parents out of poverty and to provide a better future for him and his future family. He lived and worked in Kern County for 50 years, 41 of which spent working at the Farmers Cooperative Gin, Inc. in Buttonwillow.
As a young man, Eusebio met Estela Vieyra on a chance encounter at the Cristo Rey statue in Guanajuato, Mexico. After a yearlong courtship, Eusebio would move to the U.S. and the two would lose touch only for him to return to Mexico nine years later to ask for Estela’s hand in marriage. Thinking the request was crazy, Estela told him to come back in a year and if he still wanted to marry, she would accept. Eusebio and Estela married on August 23, 1980. Together, they raised two daughters, Sandra and Maria Guadalupe, and one son, Roberto.
A devoted Catholic, Eusebio attended church regularly at St. Mary’s in Buttonwillow. An avid gardener, his family and friends enjoyed a bounty of tomatoes, chili peppers, and strawberries every summer and he could often be found welding in his workshop. In his retirement, he made the most of his free time bonding with his first grandchild, Santiago. A diehard baseball fan, he teared up when he saw his beloved Dodgers win the World Series in 2020.
Eusebio was preceded in death by his father, Jesus, mother, Luz, and sister, Maria de Jesus. He is survived by his wife, Estela, his three children, Sandra Barron, Maria Guadalupe (David Diaz) Barron, and Roberto (Maria Christina) Barron, his grandson, Santiago, his sisters, Guadalupe, Carmela, Marta, Pilar, and Ana, his brother Emilio, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 19th at St. Mary’s Church at 11am (420 Main Street, Buttonwillow, CA 93206) A rosary will be held on Monday evening, January 18th at 6pm at Peters Funeral Home (844 East Lerdo Highway, Shafter, CA 93263). El domingo 10 de enero de 2021, Eusebio T. Barrón, esposo amoroso, padre de tres hijos y abuelo de uno, falleció a la edad de 71 años por complicaciones debido al COVID-19 en Bakersfield, CA. Eusebio, también conocido como “El Barbón” o “El Bellón”, nació el 14 de agosto de 1949, en San Juan, Guanajuato, México de Jesús y Luz (Torres) Barrón. Un inmigrante orgulloso, llegó a los Estados Unidos en 1971 para ayudar a sacar a sus padres de la pobreza y brindarles un futuro mejor para él y su familia futura. Vivió y trabajó en el condado de Kern durante 50 años, 41 de los cuales pasó trabajando en el Farmers Cooperative Gin, Inc. en Buttonwillow.
De joven, Eusebio conoció a Estela Vieyra en un encuentro casual en la estatua del Cristo Rey en Guanajuato, México. Después de un noviazgo de un año, Eusebio se mudaría a los EE.UU. y los dos perderían el contacto solo para que él regresara a México nueve años después para pedir la mano de Estela en matrimonio. Pensando que la petición era una locura, Estela le dijo que regresara en un año y que si aún quería casarse, ella aceptaría. Eusebio y Estela se casaron el 23 de agosto de 1980. Juntos criaron a dos hijas, Sandra y María Guadalupe, y un hijo, Roberto.
Eusebio, católico devoto, asistía regularmente a la iglesia en St. Mary's en Buttonwillow. Un jardinero apasionado, su familia y amigos disfrutaban de una gran cantidad de tomates, chiles y fresas cada verano y a menudo se le podía encontrar soldando en su taller. En su jubilación, aprovechó su tiempo libre jugando con su nieto que cariñosamente lo llamaba Chaguito. Un fanático del béisbol, se emocionó cuando vio a sus amados Dodgers ganar la Serie Mundial en 2020.
A Eusebio le precedieron en la muerte su padre Jesús, su madre Luz y su hermana María de Jesús. Le sobreviven su esposa, Estela, sus tres hijos, Sandra Barrón, María Guadalupe (Dávid Díaz) Barrón, y Roberto (María Christina) Barrón, su nieto, Santiago, sus hermanas, Guadalupe, Carmela, Marta, Pilar y Ana, su hermano Emilio, y varios primos, sobrinas y sobrinos. Se llevará a cabo un funeral el martes 19 de enero en la iglesia de St. Mary a las 11 a.m. (420 Main Street, Buttonwillow, CA 93206). Se llevará a cabo un rosario el lunes 18 de enero a las 6 p.m. en Peters Funeral Home (844 East Lerdo Highway, Shafter, CA 93263).
