Obituary for Blanche Cremer Stepp

Resident of Shafter, California for over 60 years
Blanche passed away of natural causes surrounded by her loving family on December 16, 2018 in Shafter, California. Blanche was 95.
Blanche was born in Bakersfield, California on June 8, 1923. She was the youngest of nine children born to Alice and James Cremer.
Blanche was raised in Bakersfield where she graduated from Kern County High School, and Bakersfield College. She met her future husband Capt. Lee R Stepp at a USO dance at Gardner… Field near Taft, California during World War II. They were married in Bakersfield, California in 1945. They spent 53 happy years together.
After raising their three three children, Blanche volunteered and then went to work as the secretary for St. Teresa’s Catholic Church in Shafter where she remained for nearly 30 years. Blanche was an excellent seamstress, sewed many clothes for herself and her family, embroidered, knitted and crocheted afghans, quilts, baby blankets, and made baby toys for those she loved. Many of those items are still in active use today as a daily reminder for those who have them of her skill and generosity. She enjoyed being a grandmother and spoiled her grandkids at every opportunity.
Blanche was preceded in death by her husband Lee R. Jack Stepp and her eight older brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughter Nancy Gaeta of Cayucos, California, her son Tom Stepp of San Augustine, Florida, her son Don Stepp of Ft. Collins, Colorado, her grandson Tommie Gaeta, her granddaughters Melanie (Gaeta)McGee, Heather Stepp, Olivia Stepp and many nieces and nephews.
