Obituary for Amelia Vela

Amelia Amador Vela was born in Tempe, Arizona on October1 7, 1950 to parents Audon Amador and Amelia (Vega) Amador. Amelia and her parents moved to California when Amelia was still an infant. Amelia or Molly as many called her, met the love of her life, Alfredo Vela. They were married soon after meeting and had been inseparable since then. They went everywhere together, her favorite saying to her husband being “Time to mosey on”. Molly was proud of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren… and their accomplishments. She enjoyed collecting rooster and chicken figurines from different places she traveled. Molly loved traveling with Alfredo by her side; especially to Texas and Arizona. Molly sewed every time she got an opportunity, often sewing blankets and stuffed animals for the entire family. She cherished all her grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved spending time with them. Molly was a Classy lady who was a devoted Christian woman and 100% mother at all times. Molly entered eternal rest on May 18, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.
Molly is survived by her husband of 49 years, Alfredo Jose Vela; children, Lisa Ana Vela Cortez (Oscar Godinez), Tammy Vela Chavez (Art Chavez), Edward Joe Vela (Maria Casteñeda), Gary Vela (Ronette Nelson); 14 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; sisters, Rosemary Amador Pierce, Jenny Amador Romero; brother, Richard Amador. She is preceded in death by her parents; Audon and Amelia Amador; sisters, Martha Amador, Lupe Amador Dooley, Helen Amador Urbina; brothers, Jimmy Amador, Danny Amador.
A Funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at 10am at La Rosa de Saron Church in Shafter, CA. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 from 12-8pm at Peters Funeral Home in Shafter. An evening service will be held Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at 7pm at La Rosa de Saron with viewing from 5-8pm.
