Obituary for Odell Joiner

Odell was born July 17, 1931 to George and Mary Kennedy Joiner in Big Springs, Texas. Odell and his family moved to Alpaugh, California in 1942. Odell grew up in Alpaugh attending school until the middle of his sophomore year in high school when he quit school to go to work. Odell worked for Crockett and Gambogi for a few years and then drove heavy equipment for J.G. Boswell. He left there and bought his first truck, a gas rig that he used to haul hay. He married Birdie Martin in 1950. Of that… union there were three children born. That marriage ended and he married Lynn Jacobsen in 1965. They celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary on February 21st. Odell was in the trucking business for more than 50 years, hauling hay to the Chino market and agricultural gypsum. Later in his trucking career he had end dumps that hauled gypsum and almond tree shavings. He was honored by the American Truck Historical Society in 2004 for 50 plus years of service to the trucking industry. Odell loved the Lord and we are thankful he is out of pain and living in his new home in Heaven.

Odell is survived by his wife, Lynn; sons, Wayne, Chet and Chris (Monica); daughters, Deb Rocha (Don) and Melissa Campbell (Dennis); along with twelve grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren, with one more expected in October.
