Obituary

Memorial services for Irene Fulfer, 82, a resident of Porterville will be held at 11:00am on December 27, 2017, at Westfield Christian Church, located at 1222 N. Prospect Avenue, Porterville, CA 93257. Graveside service will be 2:00pm at the Shafter Cemetery located at 18662 Santa Fe Way, Shafter, CA. 93263. The viewing will be from 8:00am-10:00am at Porterville Funeral and Cremation Center 765 W. Henderson Avenue, Porterville. Irene passed away, Friday December 15, 2017 at the Sierra Valley Rehab Convalescent Home under the extended care of Optimal Hospice. Irene was born September 27, 1935 in Wilson, Oklahoma to John and Dona Sharp. She was united in marriage to the love of her life, Edward Fulfer on February 16, 1954. He preceded her in death on December 7, 2015. They were married for 61 blissful years. Her beloved son Darrell also preceded her on April 8, 2001.For most of her life she was a devoted housewife and mother who kept the family fed during hard times with her bountiful garden livestock. She did work a short while for Safeway as a checker and loved the social aspect of the job. She is survived by her daughters Paula Sticker of Porterville, CA and Winona Griffis of Colorado Springs, CO, 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at Sierra Valley Rehabilitation and Convalescent whose tireless effort to ensure Irene's comfort during her final hours were met.
