Obituary of Fredward Lonis Anderson

Fredward Lonis Anderson, age 89, of Bakersfield, California passed away on Wednesday April 22, 2020. Fredward was born November 13, 1930 in Stidham, Oklahoma born to parents, Porter And Florence Anderson.

Although Fredward was born in Oklahoma he lived most of his life in Bakersfield, California. He spent 3 years at the Korean War as a dedicated Sargent in the United States Marine Corp. He worked for 22 years as an Irrigation Specialist at Cal State University of Bakersfield (CSUB).

He was most known for his horseshoe skills, chess playing and love of antiques to the point he owned his own antique store, Anderson Antiques. Fredward is described as friendly, memorable, funny and lovable. To know him was to love him. He never met a stranger. His hobbies included gardening (Famous Tomatoes), collecting antiques, building birdhouses, chess player, reading western books, Tracy Byrd concerts, church deacon and military enthusiast.

Fredward was a deacon at 5 different Churches of Christ throughout his life. He was a walking encyclopedia of the Korean War. A proud US Marine and was always sporting clothing and hats to show it. He had an undying love for his family, his country, his friends, his tomatoes and would happily talk about anything over a meal. He traveled 6 countries and 20 states during his lifetime. He loved to travel with the Marine Corp and his family. His favorite places included Hawaii, Las Vegas, Sequoia National Park, Ventura, Pismo Beach, Mount Rushmore, seeing family in Oklahoma and any place he could camp and fish.

Fredward is preceded in death by his parents, Porter Anderson and Florence Hallum; son, Michael Anderson Jr and all of his siblings. He leaves behind his wife of 65 years, Reva Anderson; daughter, DeAnna Anderson; grandchildren, Michael Anderson Jr, Nicholas and Kasmira Anderson; great-grandchildren, Phillip, Micah and Samuel Anderson.
