Mary Deliah Daniels was born December 8, 1927 in Bakersfield, CA to Oscar and Clemie Rice. She passed away October 8, 2017 in Bakersfield, CA.
She is survived by her son, Darrell Daniels of San Luis Obispo, CA, and daughter Karen Bolles of Bakersfield, CA, granddaughters, Julia and Sarah of Bakersfield, CA. Brother, Lum Rice, Jim (Arlene) Rice, Charles (Joyce) Rice, Ray (WillaMae) Rice, Harry (Barbara) Rice, sisters, Lorraine Mouser, Carrie Thomas, numerous nephews and nieces.
She… is predeceased by her loving husband, Dan, and brothers, Louie and Henry Rice and Parents
Mary was the oldest of ten children, living on a farm across the street from Rio Bravo School, where all 10 children attended. She transitioned into Shafter High School with all nine siblings following; As the oldest child, Mary was a second mother to her siblings and acquired the nickname "little general".
Mary was a child of the Great Depression, the family was a hard working family and never went hungry, having extra activities such as playing tennis, 4H camp, spending time with family and friends.
Mary met Dan right after WWII, they where married 46 years loving life , dancing, traveling in their 5th wheel around the United States, eventually settling in Bishop, CA. They Joined the Elks and became a part of the Bishop community.
Visitation is Thursday, October 19, 2017 from 4-8pm at Peters Funeral Home, Shafter. Graveside Service is Friday, October 20, 2017 at 10am at Shafter Memorial Park.
