Obituary

William Clell Spradlin, known as Bill, went to be with his Lord on December 11, 2017 at 11:20 am at Pacifica Memory Care Facility. Our beloved husband, brother, father, step-father, grandfather, great-grand-father and friend was born on a rainy day in September 9, 1929 near Webber Falls, Oklahoma. Every year on his birthday his mother would say, "Son, it rained all day the day you were born." He was the oldest of three sons. He had a very strong work ethic, a love for adventure and a strong love for his family. He had an exciting career in the oil patch breaking out in December 1952 with General Petroleum Co. which later became Mobil Oil Corporation. He worked 34 years before retiring. He went to Saudi Arabia for six and a half years working as Construction Superintendent. He was very proud of his work supervising and inspecting the building of thirteen one million-barrel tanks and how they solved many problems. After Saudi he wasn't really ready to retire so he went to work for All American Pipeline Co. for five years. Bill was an integral part of his family and kept everyone connected. He was the life of the party and was known to have a nick name for almost everyone. He loved square dancing. He was a dedicated and active member of the Taft-Midway Masonic Lodge for several years. He will be missed by all that knew him. He had two daughters by his first wife Iona Jean Hobbs who passed away from cancer. Then he met and married Wanda Sutton who he had known for years. They have been happily married for 28 years. Bill was preceded in death by his father Louis Spradlin and his mother Myrtle Gipson Spradlin, a brother Clifford Spradlin. Bill was survived by Daughters Janet Scott of Prospect, Oregon, Doris Anderson of Taft; Step Daughter, Pattie Mc Donald of Taft; Step-Son Dean Sutton of Santa Cruz; Step Daughter Mary Walters of Paso Robles, and numerous grandchildren, great grand-children, nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers please make donations in Bills name to the Alzheimer's Disease Assoc. of Kern County (ADAKC) PO Box 22108 Bakersfield Ca. 93390. The family would like to give special thanks to Irma and the staff at Pacifica Senior Living Care and Hospice for the good care given to Bill. Chapel Service will be held at Erickson and Brown Funeral Home on Monday December 18, 2017 at 10:00 AM. Interment to follow at Shafter Memorial Park
