Obituary
David was born on Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on August 8, 1937 to Gerald H. Wagner and Ruth E. Humphrey. He was raised in Oak Glen, California and attended grade school and elementary school in Yucaipa. David graduated from Redlands High School where he excelled in football and played a special position created for him. He then went on to attend Cal Poly University, Pomona for two years. David enlisted in the Army in 1958 and served two years, stationed in Germany. David spent his adult years working in the field of agriculture, as a pest control advisor. Until his retirement in 2007 he worked for Brown & Bryant, Crop Production Service and Western Farm Service. During his 25 years of service to his customers in and around Shafter he developed close friendship with many local farmers. In 2007 he retired from Western Farm Service after being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. At the age of 60 he accepted Jesus as his Savior and served as head usher Valley Baptist for a number of years. Thanks to Pastors Phil Neighbors, Roger Spradlin and Larry Wood for mentoring David. He thought the world of you. He had a great sense of humor always ready to tell a joke or share a laugh with friends and family. David’s favorite pastimes were golf, hunting, fishing and traveling. His last fun trip was to Australia in 2006. David was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Vonnie Martin. To cherish memories of him are his wife Pam; son, Matt (Carey); daughter, Katrina Wagner; stepdaughter, Moni Case (Dan); grandson, Joshua Wagner; granddaughter, Tessa Ogles; brother, Jim Wagner (Sandy); brother-in-law, Walter Martin; and many nieces and nephews. We will miss him dearly. Special thanks to Parkview Julian Hospital staff who were so wonderful to home and our family. A graveside funeral service will be conducted by Peters Funeral Home, Shafter on Wednesday, July 10, at 9am at Shafter Memorial Park for David Lee Wagner, age 75, of Bakersfield who passed away July 5, 2013 in Bakersfield. Pastor Larry Wood will officiate the service and interment will follow.
