Services: Saturday, April 14th, 11 a.m. Curtis William Suckut, 50, of Truckee, CA passed away on April 1, 2012. Curtis was born in Bakersfield, CA on April 17, 1961 to Albert and Margaret Ann Suckut. He attended West High school, and graduated from San Diego State University with a B.S. in Business in 1984. Curtis lived a life of adventure. He earned his pilot's license at age 19, participated in numerous triathlons, swam in the San Francisco Bay to "Escape from Alcatraz" three times, biked from Santa Cruz to San Diego with his buddies, and placed second for the U.S. in New Zealand's Double Brown Ironman with a time of 8:06. In the late 80's he started his personal training business, Fit Image, in San Carlos, CA. In 2003 Curtis moved to his much loved mountain home in Tahoe Donner and started Truckee Sport Power. Curtis helped many people to achieve their health and fitness goals. He donated his time to train students on the Chasing Shadows Youth Triathlon Team and cross country team. He loved his Truckee community and enjoyed hanging out with his wife Tanya at Wild Cherries Coffee House, cross-country ski-skating, renovating his mountain home, landscaping and barbequing for friends and family. He was a lifelong Chargers fan.
He is survived by his loving wife Tanya Suckut; his mother Margaret Ann Suckut; sister Kelly Clanton and husband Ray and their children Ryan, LisaBeth and Isabella Clanton; aunts Donna Hockom and Jeanette Lang, and numerous cousins and relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Suckut, in 2003. Pallbearers include Ray Clanton, Ryan Clanton, Nick Sukut, Sam Sukut, Dominic Panziera, Paul D'Olier, and Flint Teitsworth. Graveside services will be held at Shafter Memorial Cemetery, 18662 Santa Fe Way in Shafter at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 14, 2012. No visitation is scheduled. A memorial service will be held in Truckee, CA at a future date.
