Obituary for Wallace Frank Reimer

Wallace Frank Reimer was born on February 5, 1925 to Cornelius and Anne (Sawatzky) Reimer in Lodi, California. He joined older brother, Willis (1921) and was later joined by brother, Harold (1933) and sister, Rhoda (1941). Wallace attended Maple Elementary School where he excelled in track and field and graduated from Wasco High School in 1943 where he particularly enjoyed industrial arts which served him well on the family farm. In 1945 he was drafted into the US Army where he served as a T3… surgical technician in the 40th infantry, stationed primarily in Korea and the Philippines. He was honorably discharged in 1946.
Wally arrived back in Shafter and went back to work on the family farm. He was introduced to his future bride, Elfrieda Loewen, by relatives, and married in 1950 in the Hillsboro Ebenfeld Church. He once said he had a very good premonition the night before that he was marrying a wonderful girl and they were going to have a very good life! Wally and Elfrieda farmed cotton, alfalfa, sugar beets and almonds in the Shafter area for the next 62 years, and had two sons; Dwight, born in 1951, and Peter, born in 1953. A daughter, Elizabeth, was stillborn at birth several years later. In 1964, Connie was adopted into the family at the age of 1 year.
He was a charter member of the South Shafter Mennonite Brethren Church. Wally had a heart for missions and supported many different Christian organizations and missionaries financially, prayerfully, and through hospitality along with his wife, Elfrieda. The family spent time as missionaries in Cuba and Haiti in 1961 and Aruba in 1963, and Wally went back to Aruba again in 1965 to finish work on a radio transmission station and tower through The Evangelical Alliance Missions (TEAM). Wally also had a passion for the Bible, memorizing scripture and studying theology, eschatology and prophecy.
Wally passed away suddenly the morning of September 11, 2018 at Pacifica Senior Living. He left this world quickly, as he desired, and is now in the presence of his Lord and Savior, along with his wife of more than 65 years, Elfrieda (deceased 2015); their children, Elizabeth Ann Reimer (1956), and Peter Mark Reimer (2008)(spouse, Debby). He is survived by his children, Dwight Larry Reimer and wife Patricia, and Connie and husband Dennis Penner; grandchildren Brie and husband Paul Kruger, Erin Reimer, Noelle and husband Marteen Arredondo, Lorren Penner; and a great grandson, Samuel Kruger; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Wallace Reimer to MSR Camp and Retreat Center, Florence, Kansas. (Affiliated with World Impact Midwest)
