Obituary for William Henry Hoover

William was born on August 20, 1930 in Colorado Springs, CO and passed away June 13, 2017 in Bakersfield, CA. He married Veda Eldora West on May 24, 1952 in San Diego, CA. They lived and farmed in Rush, CO until 1969 when the family moved to Shafter, CA. William worked at Nikkel Iron Works in Shafter and Bloemhof and Bushnell Farms in Wasco retiring in 2001. He loved the Lord and was a faithful member of his church. He loved welding and designing equipment. He enjoyed gardening with his wife… and spending time with his family. He was frequently found in his garden with his dogs and cat at his feet. He was preceded in death by both of his parents, Harold and Willa; his beloved wife, Veda; son Raymond; brother, Gerald; and sister, Mira. He is survived by his children, daughters, Leanne Mead and husband Jeff; Anita Tripp and husband Wade; (Martha) Ellen Gross and husband Ron; Juanita Sullivan and husband Lonnie; son, Ralph Hoover; and daughter Bonnie Hoover; 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren. He is survived by his brothers, Ronald Hoover, Thomas Hoover; many other family, and a whole host of friends who will miss him. Also a special thank you to Gentiva Hospice, Linda Boden and staff at Village Gardens, and Optimal Hospice whose care and support helped to make saying good-bye a little easier. Viewing at Peters Funeral Home, 844 E. Lerdo Hwy. Shafter, CA on Friday, June 16, 2017, from 4- 8p.m. Graveside service will be at the Shafter Cemetery on Saturday, June 17, 2017, at 9a.m.
