Laverne's Obituary

Laverne K. Alexander was born July 22, 1938, and was called home on May 11, 2017. He passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loved ones just as he had wanted.
Vern was born in Colby, Wisconsin to parents Fred and Lydia Alexander. In 1948, the family relocated to Rosemond, CA. They would later move to Shafter, CA. where Vern attended Shafter High School and would later settle down to start his own family.
Vern worked for Brown and Bryant for 20 years and retired from Bidart Brothers in 2006. Anyone who worked with him would be quick to tell you that he was very well respected. He was dedicated, reliable, and above all, a man of his word.
Vern was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching various sports, baseball being his favorite. The Dodgers channel quickly became the only channel and Vin Scully could be heard throughout the house 24/7. His family will agree, that no bigger Dodgers fan has ever existed.
Vern is preceded in death by his parents Fred and Lydia Alexander, brothers Sonny, Ronnie, and Virgil Alexander, and his loving companion of 18 years, Carol Weaver. He is survived by his wife Brenda Alexander, sons Brian (Melody), Russel (Gina) Alexander, daughter Brandy (Cliff) Eatmon, stepson Michael Davidson, brother Jerry (Pat) Alexander, 10 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, May 26, 2017, at Home Fellowship Church, 520 California Ave. Shafter, CA 93263.
