Obituary for Royce Lee Eslick

Royce Lee Eslick passed away at his home in Twain Harte, CA on Saturday January 6, 2018. Royce was born in Caddo, Oklahoma and moved to Shafter, CA with his parents and siblings when he was eight years old. Royce is fondly remembered in Shafter for his beautiful voice leading worship at his church. Royce graduated from Shafter high school and enlisted in the Army. While enlisted, Royce was commissioned by the National Security Agency to assist with central intelligence operations. Royce excelled… at software engineering and held positions at several prestigious software corporations such as IBM and Intel. In his spare time, Royce was an avid reader, competitive bowler, and skilled woodworker. Beautiful pieces of his craftsmanship can be lovingly found in each of his children’s and grandchildren’s homes.
Royce is survived by his wife Margaret of 56 years, and his sons Allen Eslick (Heather), Brian (Kim), Chris, and Greg (Jennifer). His grandchildren include Allegra Jensen (Doug), Clayton Eslick, Zachary Eslick, Ashley Eslick, Connor Eslick, Emily Eslick, and Morgan Eslick. Also survived by his brother Bill (Donna) and sister Janet Thomasy (Frank) and numerous nieces and nephews. Royce was preceded in death by his parents George and Flora Eslick. Known as “Papa”, his family and friends were everything to him. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, all of which he was extremely proud of. A funeral service will be held on Saturday January 13, 2018 at the Shafter Church of Christ at 1pm in Shafter, CA. Graveside service will follow at Shafter Cemetery. Reception to follow. A viewing will also be held at Peters Funeral Home from 5pm to 8pm on Friday January 12, 2018.
