Obituary

Donald Wayne Neufeld was born on March 26, 1932 in Balko, Oklahoma to Leona Wahl Neufeld and Milton Pete Neufeld. He attended Tabor College where he met his soon-to-be wife, Dorothy Kroeker. They married at the Shafter Mennonite Church on September 4, 1953. The couple built their life together in Shafter, California where Don farmed, working first with Jake Kroeker & Son and K & M Potato Company. Later, Don and Dorothy started Double D Farms where many adventures in farm life unfolded. Don shared his love of agriculture and cattle with his children and the community, mentoring through the Shafter 4-H branch.

For most of his life Donald was an active member of the Mennonite Brethren Church where he served as a deacon and enjoyed singing in the choir, participating in prayer groups, and worshiping with the community. He loved singing in the church choir and was proud to be a member of the Mennonite Men’s Choir.

Donald is survived by his brother Leo Neufeld of Stillwater, Oklahoma, his sister May Cramer of Oklahoma City; his four children - Debby Sperling of Shafter, California, Brian Neufeld of Bakersfield, Leanne Neufeld of El Sobrante and Matthew Neufeld and wife Katya of San Diego; his grandchildren Sidney Sperling, Dawneal Sperling, Alexia Neufeld and Natalia Neufeld; and his great-grandchildren Lela Rodriquez, Jordan Rodriquez and Ty Sperling.

Donald was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy, parents Milton and Leona Neufeld, and his sisters Joann Reddick and Norma Bea Janzen.

Donald passed into the arms of his Lord on April 12, 2022, aged 90 years. A good life.
