Obituary
My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.
David Renteria Morales was born on June 20th, 1940 to Fidencia and JC Morales in the city of San Luis Potosi, Mexico. He was the second oldest of seven children. He grew up with his siblings as follows, Inocencio, Eva, Alex, Micaela, Ramiro, and Mary.
Like many families in search of a better life, they began their journey to the United States in 1955. The family began working as horse caretakers for many years. David enjoyed caring and learning this trait alongside his family. In time he began farming and like many families which settled in the Valley of Texas they worked the local agriculture. Since farming was seasonal, David and his family found themselves traveling from Texas to California. It was in 1961 at the Shafter Labor Camp when he met Lupe Moreno, cruising the camp in his white pickup truck. He was known as the “White Dove.” They began courting as they worked the seasonal potato crop in the County of Kern. They quickly fell in love, but David was called to work in Utah at another potato farm. He could not leave without his love Lupe and they eloped and married September 19th, 1961.
David was a hard worker and did whatever it took to provide for his family. Eventually they found themselves moving back to the communities of Shafter and Salinas. David worked for Ranchers Cotton Oil in Shafter where he bought his first home on West Ash. The Lord blessed them with a home next to Lupe’s oldest sister Petra Macias and blocks from the rest of the family. Those years were precious. They raised their family, Dina, Nancy, Debbie, Belinda, David Jr, and Lorena alongside family and countless cousins. It was during this time he began his lifelong carrier as a truck driver.
David and his family were part of the Rosa de Sharon in Shafter for many years. He often taught and served his brother and sisters in Christ with such joy. David had a heart for the Lord. Like his biblical name, David- he was a man who understood God’s mercy and pursued the Lord with all his heart until his last breath. His testimony was that of grace and forgiveness. He as man was not perfect, but the love of God is and he lived this life.
On March 15th, 2015 his wife Lupe went to be with the Lord. From that day he often spoke about being reunited with her. His first love was certainly Christ, but his second love was surely for his wife Lupe. David spent his remaining years living in Bakersfield with his daughter Debbie, and son David, along with his granddaughter Dia. Everyone here who knew my dad personally knew how much he loved to visit with people. He could on for hours. David didn’t know a stranger. In his last years he enjoyed his trips to Texas and Salinas. He loved visiting the ocean and loved road trips. Everyone here knows how much he loved the open road and to, “Hammer Down.” He always enjoyed gardening and had a green thumb. He could grow anything. David enjoyed watching and cheering on his San Francisco Giants and watching his, “Cowboy movies.” More than anything you would find him reading and spending hours studying the word of God. When his eyes began to fail him, you could hear him listening to the bible.
David went to be with the Lord on November 12th, 2022 at 5:24pm. He was surround by his children, and his grandchildren. He met the glory of the Lord as his family sang Hallelujah.
No more suffering, no more pain just revealing in the Kings glory. He was preceded in death by his wife Lupe Morales, his parents, his three brothers, Inocencio Morales, Alex Morales, and Ramiro Morales. He is survived by his three sisters, Eva Rodriquez, Micaela Flores and Mary Morales. He is also survived by all his children, Dina Mora and husband Frank Mora, Nancy Morales, Debbie Garcia, Belinda Jackson and husband Frank Jackson, David Morales Jr., and Lorena Morales. Grandchildren, Abraham Gonzales, Sarah Gonzales, Zachary Mora and wife Rita Mora, Adam Mora, Eric Garcia, Eli Garcia, Dia Garcia, and Belle Boronda. His great grandchildren, Emma Drew Leyder, Atlas Mora, Hadley Gonzales, and Anna Mora. David is also survived by two sons, Skip Chipchack and Stephen Mallobox
Psalms 73:23-24, Yet I am always with you; you hold me by my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory. Amen
