Obituary for Tammy Kay Crane

Tammy was born in Bakersfield, CA on October 16, 1969 to Vaughn & Dixie Crane. Tammy lived in Shafter her whole life. She loved this town. Tammy attended school in Shafter and graduated from Shafter High School in 1987.
Growing up Tammy enjoyed a wide range of activities. Tammy loved nature and camping, the mountains were her favorite. She was a member of Camp Fire Girls, enjoyed tap dancing, majorettes and singing. Tammy had a beautiful singing voice. In 5th grade, she was chosen to… be in the Kern County Honor Choir. In high school Tammy was a member of Shafter High School Color Guard.
As an adult Tammy had many different jobs. She worked at Foster Freeze. Served senior citizens through Shafter Recreation and Park District Meals on Wheels Program. Worked 20 years delivering The Bakersfield Californian for various contractors. Tammy enjoyed working with special needs adults through Community Support Options, Inc. and Mentor. She worked for Target for 11 years. Most recently Tammy worked for Kern County Department of Agriculture & Measurements Standards.
Tammy’s greatest joy was her family. She was the oldest of 4 children and took that role very serious. Tammy was a second mom to her siblings. Tammy always had a listening ear, a shoulder to cry on, and the patience of Job. Tammy did not like the spotlight. She quietly went about being of service to her entire family daily. She was always thoughtful, kind, and compassionate.
Tammy’s biggest accomplishment was raising her 2 nieces. Tammy loved her girls and raised them as her own. Tammy was the best “Aunt Sis” there could ever be.
As an adult Tammy enjoyed many traveling adventures around the United States. Her last trips included hiking Moro Rock in Sequoia National Park and tubing the San Marcos River in San Marcos, Texas. Tammy loved listening to live music, the melodrama, and plays. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
She is preceded in death by her father, James Vaughn Crane. Tammy is survived by her mother, Dixie Crane; sister, Mattie Crane; future brother- in- law, James Lemmons; brother, Blue Crane; brother, Evion Crane and wife Amber. Tammy is survived by her girls, Kenna and Erin Crane. She is also survived by 4 nephews and 1 niece- Darrock, Allistir, Eli, Justin and Riley.
Viewing will be Sunday, November 4, 2018 from 5-8pm at Peters Funeral Home in Shafter. A graveside service will be held Monday, November 5, 2018 at 10am at Shafter Memorial Park.
