Obituary for Nancy Carol Starrh

Nancy Carol Starrh was a treasured blessing to her husband, Fred L. Starrh, and a beautiful example of faith, love and grace! She went to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday morning, July 9, 2009 at the age of 81. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, and her four children; Fred L. Starrh II (wife Cris and children Adam and Dana), Larry Starrh (wife Shana and children Keith, Michelle, and Brent), Carol Kroeker (husband Jay and children Bradley and Dee Ann) and Anne Ashley (husband Dale).… She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Dwight.
Nancy was born in Portland, Oregon on February 24, 1928 to Dr. C. Walter and Mildred Johnson and grew up in Tacoma Washington on the Puyallup Indian Mission where her parents were missionaries. She graduated from Whitworth College in 1950, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. After graduating, she began work at Tacoma General Hospital. She met her husband while he was stationed at Ft. Lewis in Tacoma. The two married on July 24, 1954, and were looking forward to celebrating their 55th wedding anniversary in 15 days. Fred and Nancy raised their children in Shafter, CA on their farm. While in Shafter, she continued using her nursing skills working for local doctors, for the Kern County Health Department, and as a school nurse at Richland School District. Nancy was a talented painter and her hands were artist’s hands. Every painting or sketch was an expression of her faith and love; faith in God, love of family; faith in friends, love of beauty, faith in heart, love of life.
To Mom A gentle hand, a fervent prayer. A precious friend, a love not spared. A faithful heart, a healing kiss. A work of art, a precious wish. A soul inspired, a blissful song. A walked admired, a perfect mom!
We love you mom!
